Some of my Stash

I've been working on a lot of earrings lately, and have built up quite a stash. I hope you guys like them, and L, let me know what you think!

I really think it might be time to start begging for a new camera. Perhaps for my birthday. Oooooh!

Button earrings

So, every time I dig through my craftbox of doom, I always ignore the box of buttons I have. Last night, however, I dumped it out, sorted my buttons* and decided I wanted to make some pretty pretty button danglie earrings.

When I manage to finally finish a pair, I'll post pictures. For now, it's a giant work in progress. :)

Pendants

I finally got around to posting the Tree of Life pendants that I have made:

#1 is the very first attempt... not quite awesome, but it's pretty!
#2 is the product of miscommunication...  Hahaha
#3 is the product of better communication. My brother commissioned* me to make this shiney pretty pendant for his fiance. I've now made her a few pairs of earrings, as well as this pendant.

-----------------------------------------

* AKA he's making me make stuff for her, so that he doesn't have to go out to jewelry stores and hunt for something through racks and racks and racks of earrings. He just stops at my apartment, tells me what he wants, and makes me make them. Punk apparently has this figured out...

Random Necklace

A few Christmases ago, I got a couple of tubs of random glass beads. (Pretty sure they were "seconds")  I had absolutely no idea what to do with them, as they were all dirty, about a quarter of them were broken, and half of them had funky glass globs on them. In other words, they're pretty fugly.   So, one day, I got bored with some extra wire, was kind of drunky* and created something similar to the necklace pictured below.  So, a few weeks ago, I tried it again. Picking out the prettiest of the fugly beads, trying not to put similar colors next to each other, and watching TV**.

This beauty measures 21.5 inches in length (clasp to clasp)

After finishing this necklace, my friend S demanded that she get something similar for Christmas this year. :)  She's so awesome. I'll come up with something super awesome & special for her.

Anyone wanna buy this beauty?  (email me at handmadedangles @ gmail.com if you do, and we'll hammer out the details)

 ------------------------------------------

*I do my best creating when under the influence. I can never make stuff sober... is that bad?  Well, I can make stuff, but it isn't as awesome as something I've created while not... sober. :)

**As in  *  I can never sit down and just create.  I have to be intoxicated, and watching tv or a movie. But it has to be a show I've seen before, otherwise I get sucked into the show, and forget what I'm doing.
(This totally happened a few nights ago. Watching Grey's Anatomy with The Boy, and all I did was watch.  At the end of each episode (disc 1 of season 1 - I <3 netflix) he would ask me if we should start another episode, so that I could finish the pendant I was working on. Finally, after starting the last episode, I just finished the damn thing so I could watch the show in peace... I'm terrible, aren't I?)

PS. If you have a hard time reading the itty bitty print, hit ctrl  +  and it will enlarge all the print on the screen.

Earrings

Some of my pretty earrings. :)

I'm working on getting better pictures, and using a brandy snifter* as a way of showing the 3D-ness of my earrings.

BLACK circle - I love these earrings, and am glad that you can clearly see the color. Some type of stone, with hematite danglies. :)
RED circle - Whoops, in normal light they're close in color, both gray-ish looking. I'll have to fix those.
GREEN circle -These are really chunky, heavy earrings. Different shaded beads interlocking with one another. They're strung on one eyepin, and pulled into a circle.

I have a mini-love affair going on with the chain/black/green earrings on the left.

Are they not gorgeous?

I also made another Tree of Life pendant, but totally forgot to snap a pic of it.  I'll get a pic of the new one**, and my first one (ya know, a side-by-side comparison), so that you guys can see them. Because they are awesome.
-------------------------------

*Please ignore the fingerprints on the glass... I fail. Hahaha

** I made the second one for my brothers fiance. My brother is so damn cute; he keeps bugging me to make earrings and stuff so that he can buy it from me, and then give it to her as a present.  It cracks me UP!

New Pendant

At some point last week I finally checked my "handmadedanglies" email, and most of it was etsy stuff. I also get a crafting newsletter that eventually lead me to this:

(Image taken from : DailyArtStop.blogspot.com)

Once I saw the pic for this pendant, I couldn't help myself. I had to make one!

After making google do some leg work for me, and looking at a bunch of pictures* I sat down to try and make my own. Turned out pretty good, it's a little lop-sided, but I'm working on that.

Here is my final product. (Sorry about the poor quality, I snapped the pic at work)

And here is the copper tree that I really like.
(Image taken from: faerydaydreams.blogspot.com)

----------------------------

*I typed "tree of life pendant" into google, and clicked on "image" at the top of the page. It showed about 7 different hand-made pendants. I like most of them, and included the copper one, mainly cuz I think it's gorgeous.

Wedding Bells

In my last post, I mentioned that I was making the jewelry for a friends wedding. J&Y.

You can look at some of the pics that I posted yesterday on my regular blog.

Here are a couple pics of the other two bridesmaids, and the flower girl.

The lovely R and her set.

The beautiful I, and her set.

And A and her set.
(She decided to wear her own earrings)

It was awesome once I finallllly got ahold of the bride (I demanded her attention. Hehehe), and knew what she wanted. She pretty much let me do what I wanted, which was fun, and I experimented a lot before I decided on the final designs. I used a LOT of memory wire, which I thought was best for the bracelets (was going for a bangle look).

If you guys have any questions*, email me at: missakerkmann@gmail.com or convo me on my etsy page.

-------------------

* If you want to see more pics of some of the stuff I've made, let me know! If you want me to custom make something for you, I'll do the best I can to help you. :)

Been awhile

I always seem to go a couple of months without updating this blog. Sorry about that guys!

Here are some pics to show what I've been up to:

You likey the wire-wrappy? Me too. The Boy's mom got me a couple
of books for my birthday, and I haven't been able to stop.
The flowers/butterfly's are fun, and I'm getting better at making them.

Tin of despair.
Usually chock full of un-finished earrings.
(Just haven't put the hooks on, otherwise, they're done. Kind of)
My "Elephant's Graveyard" of almost done stuff. :)

TA-DA! My earring show-y off display (the pic frame) is so pretty in the sunlight! Most of my finished earrings are hanging out on there, and some, live in the espresso tin (not to be confused with the "Tin of Despair").
Check out the peace sign pendants (left of the red chunk of stone)
Hand-beaded. Custom pendants.
Check out my Etsy for better pics

Still trying to "launch" myself.
I have over 20 listings in my Etsy store.
Currently, I'm not that ambitious about selling my stuff
(Because it'd F*ing ROCK, and I'd dye from joy)
I even tried selling my earrings at my garage sale
That kind of flopped.
Damn rain.
(and Creepy Hispanic ladies)
I'll just keep making cool shit and hoarding it in my Espresso tin.

(OH! I have a friend who is getting married, and I told his fiance I'll make her (and other girls in the line) jewelry for her - as my wedding present to them. She seems excited, and the groom thinks it's cool that I'm going to do their jewelry. Guess I'll get some business cards made up, and pass them out at the wedding, so that people can contact me if they want. BAD ASS!)

Bracelet and matching earring set

I know I already posted this on my real blog, but here it is again. I am so proud of this set!

I adore these and I don't know if I'll really be able to part with them. Is it greedy of me that I want to keep them for myself? I know I shouldn't keep them, because I already have a lot of pretty jewelry that I've made that I don't actually wear... I'm awful.

More updates on my attempt at launching myself into the business world:
  • I think I hate my etsy store. I haven't managed to sell anything yet, but I am trying like hell to promote myself. ( I think I'll up the prices a bit, then offer free shipping - which is something my mom suggested. Thinking... thinking... thinking about it)
  • Moo.com has awesome business cards. I want to get some made up. Custom minicards for about $20!
  • Do a give away! Give Away Today sounds like a safe bet. Send the lady 2 pairs of earrings - 1 for her, 1 to give away. My neighbor got over 300 hits on her page when she did a give away!
  • Fairs and festivals. I want to share a booth at Peach Days, and Raspberry days with my neighbor lady... Cut costs for both of us. Still thinking on this one.
Still working the kinks out, and I'll try to update you guys as I go along. :)

Liar Liar Pants on Fire!

Ok, so last Friday I said I would post the new earring I had made.

I didn't.

But I posted some today! (3 pairs)

... and may or may not post some more. Ok... I WILL! I get off work in half an hour... let's see if I can actually do it. :)

Display!

I'm working on a display for my earrings. Really, it's just a really cute file folder that I'm poking holes in. I'll show it to you when I manage to get it finished!

I also managed to get about 5-10 pairs of earrings made. Tomorrow I look forward to taking and posting pictures, and listing more items on etsy.

Any grand plans for the weekend?

Ta-da!

Check these beautiful babies out!
I had to be entirely too patient before I got a chance to sit down with my stuff, and really get something awesome started.
I got so excited, I was working on about 6 projects at one time, and only managed to complete three before having to come to work. These are my completed works from this afternoon!

The silver dangle is modeled after one of my doodles that I did in my Ancient Lit class last week.

Oh, same with the wire on these babies. Totally spent the last 2 class periods doodling, and coming up with some awesome ideas for my earrings. Wow, it's kind of nice to have a class where I can space out, and not miss anything!

These ones were the first pair I started today. I could not stay away from the green jasper. Aren't they beautiful? The little black stones are salvage from a necklace that my grandmother gave me when I was a kid. I was a bit destructive with any jewelry I wore ( totally grew up as a tom-boy!) but apparently had enough sense to stash the beads away.

I'm working on different ways to display my earrings, and with some help from my roommates lady friend I may possibly have something awesome. Ok, but that's just what I think... Hahaha.

So, what do you guys think? These have already gotten more views on my etsy since listing them a few hours ago, than some of the ones I posted three days ago. Go figure!

More views!

My listed items are finally getting more and more views, but still haven't sold anything... I'm hoping things'll take off soon. :)

Also, after my bead shopping spree, I've been dying to sit down and crank out some earrings, but haven't had a chance yet. Hopefully I'll get to them this afternoon.

Freaking out!

Ok, I gone done did it!

I opened up an Etsy account, and now just need to take some better pictures, and actually list my items.
:)

The link is HandMadeDanglies.etsy.com something or other...

Still working the kinks out.

Numbers 13-18

#13 - $5
#14 - $4
#15 - $5
#16 - $4
#17 - $4
$18 - $8 (You can't really see these ones very clearly, but they are 6 beads on one wire looped in a circle. They are kind of chunky, and I am considering taking them apart and re-making them differently... Not sure yet)

I love pair #13. I made a pair similar to 15 for my Mom and and oldest sister for Christmas. My Mom's were red, like the ones pictured. My sisters were orange, but the same type of stone beads.
I also love 17. A simple spiral with a weird bead that never fails to catch my eye. :)

Numbers 7-12

#7 - $3
#8 - $4
#9 - $5 (Beads were purchases in Germany)
#10 - $4
#11 - $4
#12 - $8 (Same beads as in #9, purchased in Germany)

As previously stated, click on the image for a larger view of each pair.

My favorite on this page is pair #9. I'll admit, I was intoxicated when I made this, and the wires are all crazy, but I just love them!

What do you guys think?

Numbers 1-6

#1 - $5 for this pair. (I got the striped beads in Germany)
#2 - $4
#3 - $4
#4 - $4
#5 - $4
#6 - $5

If the image is hard to see, click on it, and it will open it larger. Then you can see the fine detail of each earring. Any questions? Just leave a comment and ask!

I wish I could tell you my favorites on this page... but I can't. I equally love the monkeys of #3, as I love the stones of #6.

Welcome to "My Handmade Danglies"

I have always been pretty creative and imaginative. About a year ago I bought a kit that had stuff in it to make earrings. Most are pretty simple, but lately I've been getting more creative with them. One of these days I'll sit down and take a bunch of pictures of the earrings that I have made and would like to possibly sell.

So far the only thing I've done with my finished products is give them away as gifts, which is fine, but now that the holiday season is over, I don't know what to do with my pretties! They are all packaged up in individual bags in a box in my craft tub. Hehehe. I think I have about 20 pairs stashed away.

I'll have to get on top of things and get some pics posted!

(I don't make much more than earrings, but occasionally I'll make a pendant that will match a set of earrings. If you are interested in purchasing, please leave a comment with a way that you can be contacted. Also, if there is a pair of earrings that you would like a matching pendant for, let me know, and I'll see if I still have matching stuff to make one! )
